Martin Shkreli & The Ri$e in Medication.

America is known for having a flawed health care system. One of the major reasons why is because of the constant rise of prices in medication and medical procedures. Some would even say that our country’s health care system is corrupt and ran by money hungry medical professionals. Martin Shkreli, former CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals, is a perfect example of what kind of corruption may be lurking out there. On Thursday, February 4th, 2016 Shkreli was on trail for fraud. Shkreli raised the price of the drug called Daraprim. The drug’s main users were AIDS patients. The original price of the drug was $13.50 a pill. Turing Pharmaceuticals raised the price by 7000% and the pill is now on sale for over $700.00 a pill. This increase in price is INSANE.

What opened eyes even wider was Mr. Shkreli’s rude and passive aggressive attitude in court on Thursday when testifying. The young man refused to comply with the Supreme Court representative’s questions and also smirked to the men and women during his questioning. He is known on social media as the most hated person in America right now. Now, what about the other drugs that are intolerably over priced?

For example, as of last month Pamela Anderson was completely cured of Hepatitis B (a blood disease that still does not have a cure). In her statement she claims the only reason she was cured of her illness was because she could offered drugs that millions of other people can not. If our country has a way to cure a disease that people are dying from you would think America would have a moral obligations to save its citizens.

Or maybe this is survive of the fittest as it finest.

A Heckman Thought

"Mental health is just as important  as physical health. If you're distressed, try reading a book or getting some additional sleep. I find acupuncture, swimming, and eating dark chocolate with a glass of Cab Sav to be the best way to wind down."
