Why do people lie to their doctos?
Several people lie to their doctor every time they go to see them. Sometimes people avoid the truth because they are embarrassed or they think the information the doctor is asking is irrelevant to the reason they came to see the doctor in the first place. In some serious cases people lie to their doctor becuase they want to be misdiagnosed so that they are purposely prescribed specific medication. Lying to your doctor can be completely harmless, but it can also cause some problems. For example, a young woman goes and gets tested for STD's. Her doctor asks her if she partakes in street drugs. Although she has once or twice she doesn't feel the need nor feel comfortable telling her doctor. She believes that doing drugs has nothing to do with her current STD status and therefore tells her doctor no.
Every question a doctor or nurse asks a patient is for a good reason and also 100% to benefit the patient. Which is why lying to your doctor really doesn't help you or your situation. Your health is vital to your own survival so when you lie to your doctor you are not getting all the help that you could be. And for the record doctors and nurses have heard it all. This all relates back to the patient experience. Doctors and nurses are trained proffessionals and will not judge or hinder their capabilities after hearing the information you provide for them.
