Recently, I have decided to create a video public service announcement regarding narcotics abuse. The premise of my PSA came from a conversation I overheard while I was attending dinner. Two younger gentlemen were discussing how easy it would be to steal senior citizen’s prescribed drugs because generally, older people put drugs in easily accessible places for instance bathrooms, cabinets, or in their bedside drawers.
So, for my PSA the call the action is to get my target audience (which are parents and older adults) to lock and put away their strong prescriptions so that they cannot be mistaken for something else or stolen for abuse. I decided to base my PSA off of drug abuse because I don’t believe that most people in America are aware of the dangers of hard pills.
The way that the PSA will pan out is with a unique camera technique which is instead of filming subject the camera is the subject. Therefore, the entire PSA will be seen from the main character’s point of view. This will cause a more emotional and dramatic appeal to the audience. The conclusion of the PSA will fade to black and reveal this slogan “Watch your prescriptions. It could save a life.”
